Just when you thought that JJ and Leo couldn't get any more adorable, here is part two of their weekend engagement shoot! I can't stress enough how much joy they infused into their engagement session...they even brought all sorts of meaningful props from their home in London. Needless to say, I was rendered quite speechless by their dedication.
We could not stop laughing as we took these pictures, and looking through them during the editing process, I found myself laughing out loud on more than one occasion. I'm pretty sure that looking at these pictures will bring a smile to anyone's face, so without further ado, here is part two!

You know those mythical women we see in the movies? The ones who excel in their careers, are effortlessly beautiful, and in addition to all that, are also extremely kind and lovable?
Well, here's one of them in real life. When I first met JJ, I was struck by her porcelain skin, her perfect features, her easy smile. Next to her, I felt like a total troll. But then I started chatting with her and found out that beneath the movie-star looks lies one of the most down-to-earth, super intelligent (she's a graduate of Oxford Uni), humble people ever. And to top it all off, she is engaged to the warmest, kindest guy in London, Leo. Between Leo's enthusiasm for photography and the couple's easy-going nature, I was in photography heaven.

"Is that her?" As I peeked into the hall where Antonia and Sam sat holding hands, it took me a moment to recognize the glamorous bride with her smokey eyes and loose curls. I'd met Antonia and Sam when I did their Oxford engagement shoot, so I already knew that Antonia was naturally beautiful, but I was still floored when I saw her in her blue wedding dress. She'd gone from fresh-faced girl next door to total gorgeousness. And yes, I agree with everyone who commented that she bears a resemblance to Katie Holmes! Little wonder then, that it took Sam 5 hours to work up the courage to talk to Antonia when he first met her!
She knew they were right for each other when she injured her leg playing netball one day. She was rushed to the A & E, where she found Sam already there, anxiously awaiting her arrival. Then came a four hour wait. Despite the intense pain (and yes, it must've been intense because she had to have surgery!), at some point, Antonia realized that hey, I'm sitting in the A & E with a busted knee and I'm having fun! After this realization, she reasoned that if Sam could make this fun, then life with him was probably going to be just fine.
Their wedding was nothing like the usual wedding. They arranged for me to arrive at the end of the ceremony (photography wasn't allowed during the ceremony) and requested that I shot mostly candids. We did manage to sneak a few portraits in, but Antonia and Sam spent most of the day having a great time with their loved ones. The result was a set of the happiest wedding pictures I've come across. I could not stop smiling as I looked through the viewfinder at the end of the day, and more than once (when I came to pictures of Sam's dad, for example, who's hilarious) I found myself laughing out loud, which was somewhat embarrassing and made passersby avoid me. As a wedding photographer, I come across many couples...and yet it never gets old, never gets confusing. Each wedding I photograph remains a unique affair in my memory, and although over the months I might cease to remember the types of flowers or the color scheme that my past clients had at their wedding, I will always remember what makes them special as a couple. This quickly became obvious to me when I first met Lexy and Matt for their engagement shoot
in Oxford. They operated on the same wavelength, and while Lexy was shy, Matt was always quick to make her laugh. Their friends knew they were meant for each other when they couldn't stop chattering about their latest and greatest idea to save beavers. Like I mentioned after their engagement shoot, it's hard not to go "awww" once you've spent five minutes with them. (Read more...)

Oh boy, are we in for a treat. This is a wedding to die for. I have waited quite a bit before blogging it because I just had to ensure that I am going to do it justice. Photographing a Chinese-Indonesian wedding is different from photographing an English wedding. Firstly, Chinese-Indonesian weddings tend to be large (1,500 guests being the average size), so I always work with another photographer. For another, they start really early (I had to arrive at 4am to do the bridal prep ) with a long break of about 3 hours between the ceremony and reception where the photographers would go home for a quick shower and a rest.
In addition to that, the order in which the day goes vastly differs. The groom would come to the bride's bedroom to pick her up, there will be couple portraits, a traditional Chinese tea ceremony, and then finally we'd all head to the church together.
Despite these differences, the emotions that run through the day are something familiar. Excitement, nervousness, and of course, something akin to an out-of-body experience where you look at the person you are about to marry and think, "Holy shizzle, did I really get THIS lucky??" I got to see such emotions at Debby and Ferdy's wedding, and this is exactly what makes being a wedding photographer the best job in the world. (Read more...)

Who can forget Jessica and Matt, the adorable couple whose engagement session was featured on Whimisical Wonderland Weddings? To say that after our Oxford engagement shoot I was looking forward to their wedding would be the understatement of the year. Jessica is not only a natural beauty who has a face that my camera loves to bits, she also has the most lovable personality ever! I just want to put her in my pocket and take her home! (Okay, I don't, stop giving me dirty looks Matt.) Aaanywho, like I said after our engagement session, Matt is also a treat to work with. Easy-going and amicable, I can totally see how the two of them compliment each other. All right, I think I've said enough for now...scroll on down to see this amazing Coventry wedding!

Kerry and Rick's wedding was full of unforgettable moments. Kerry was a spirited bride with a bubbly smile that's just irresistable, and to top it off, she was surrounded by the cuuuutest little flower girls who would giggle and twirl every 5 minutes. The ceremony took place in one of the prettiest churches I have ever been to: St Edwards Church in Netley. I have the good fortune of living in Oxford, which is surely one of the most beautiful places in the world, but even then, I felt honored to be able to photograph such a beautiful location. It was a completely fitting venue for a couple like Kerry and Rick. (Read more...)
